Government spending cuts are on the way. This will have a serious effect on our City Council's ability to maintain services. The Conservatives here are already talking about reducing money to Parish Councils for services like recreation ground maintenance, and repair of play equipment. It was established a few years ago that rural residents shouldn't pay twice, through council tax for the work in urban areas, and then again through the parish precept for work in their own villages. I am trying to make sure the City Council keeps its promise.

Officers have managed to find space in so-called 'brownfield' land, but the Government says green field development will now be necessary in Canterbury and the villages.

As well as pointing out how poorly Canterbury City Council deals with fly-tipping and graffiti, she makes a general point about how our seaside resorts are under threat from local authorities.
