Guy Voizey and Catherine Bearder at Whitstable Harbour

Guy Voizey, Parliamentary Spokesman for Canterbury and Whitstable Liberal Democrats, invited Catherine Bearder, Liberal Democrat candidate for the European Parliament to Whitstable last week.

Speaking in Whitstable Harbour, Guy Voizey explained how the Conservative run city council had run a flawed consultation over the future of the harbour last year.

Mr Voizey said, "This was a good opportunity to explain to Catherine why a sympathetic redevelopment of Whitstable Harbour is vital for the future of the town."

Guy Voizey said, "I wanted to show Catherine some of the issues facing the town of Whitstable. On a range of issues, the views of local people are either not considered or ignored.

"For instance, the Conservative administration on the council has decided to close the popular Whitstable Visitor Information Centre and have no plan to relocate the service."

Catherine spoke with local residents outside the condemned VIC, who told her of the range of services which will not be available when the centre closes.
